Narayan Subramanian
Narayan Subramanian is an avid researcher in neurobiology with long-term interests in neurological diseases. Narayan joined the Oweiss lab in April 2017. He received his Bachelors in Microbiology& Biotechnology from the Mumbai University, India. He pursued his Master’s degree by research under the guidance of Late Prof. K.S.Krishnan at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), India. He went on to study motoneuron diseases, by pursuing his PhD (2011) under the guidance of Prof. Michael Sendtner at the University of Würzburg, Germany. Further he pursued his first postdoctoral stint until 2014, under the guidance of Prof. Cheryl Dreyfus focusing on BDNF trafficking in basal forebrain astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Subsequently, from 2014, before joining the Oweiss lab, he worked as a postdoctoral scientist, at the Columbia University in New York, investigating roles of dendritic spines in hippocampal neurons in mouse models of epileptic encephalopathies, under the mentorship of Prof. Wayne Frankel.
